Cupcakes Gourmet embodies the joyful and celebratory side of life. Fittingly enough, the company has its roots in celebration.
In early 2006, Maki’s daughter Chloe was born. The first two weeks of Chloe’s life were uncertain and fraught with major health concerns; doctors suspected she had a rare eye cancer. Miraculously, Chloe’s eye cleared up, and turned out to be perfectly healthy. In celebration of that miracle, Maki marked Chloe’s first birthday with a party, baking over 100 cupcakes for the occasion. The beautiful and delicious cupcakes were such a hit that Maki began thinking about opening a cupcake business. Soon after, Maki’s close friend Heather was asked to provide food for a large church event. Heather decided to make cupcakes and enlisted Maki’s help to design them. The two of them enjoyed their creative collaboration so much that they decided to forge a partnership.
In April of 2007, Cupcakes Gourmet was born. The company reflects Maki and Heather’s shared belief that life is worth celebrating and sharing great food with family and friends builds community and fellowship.
Maki and Heather began experimenting with cupcake recipes and artistic decoration in Maki’s kitchen in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Individual orders from friends rolled in quickly, then grew into larger orders. For a Mother's Day event at church, Maki and Heather baked over 700 mini-cupcakes for 500 women. Spurred on by their early success, Maki and Heather opened their first cupcake bakery in Malvern, Pennsylvania on April 5, 2008. In addition to serving the local community, they have opened the celebration to the entire country, through nationwide shipping of their mini cupcakes.
Cupcakes Gourmet uses natural ingredients of the highest quality, without harmful trans-fats. Careful attention is given to each gourmet ingredient to ensure that each flavor is dreamy, decadent, and divine. The bakery employs a back-to-basics approach with each gourmet cupcake being lovingly hand-made for your enjoyment.
